AMANDA is an intimate portrait of self-discovery. Using Drag performance as therapy Amanda Monroe creates the woman she always wanted to be. As Amanda transforms from male to female her troupe, Drags Aloud, play to international festivals. But after 8 years of gender transition Amanda’s confident smile masks an inner confusion that causes her to question everything she once felt sure about. What she ultimately realizes about herself is not what she expected. Mainly observational in style AMANDA is a deeply personal documentary about love, family and the challenges that lead to self-acceptance.
